Googling the Dead

It's become inevitable that every time I google someone, one of the links commemorates a person of their same name who is dead. I think in a few decades or centuries we'll all be googling the dead and the Internet will become a big memorial for all of us idiots as preserved on facebook, friendster, blogs, and the rest. Archaeologists will discover lost civilizations of Net communities and wonder how they managed to entertain themselves with a few headshots and some poop jokes. Porn addicts will reminisce on how crappy the plastic surgery was in our day. And new junkies will bemoan the naivete of Hollywood couples who actually had the gumption to marry.

The Internet will eventually have to be replaced by a new Net with new sites and faster porn downloads once we discover alien life that can withstand five-dong penetration. But, until then, the Internet is a log of humanity's slow march toward total humor saturation. I look forward to that march's end.
